Sep 8, 2021 - Spotlights by

This month we are excited to present our next Attorney Spotlight featuring one of our WLSC Partners, Sara Sandler Cromer. Sara is a Senior Partner at Walton Lantaff Schroeder & Carson in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office, where she has been practicing since graduating law school in 2008. Sara is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and practices in the areas of third-party insurance coverage law and appellate law. Sara serves as coverage counsel for several national insurers providing insurance policy analysis, coverage opinions, and advice on the proper handling of coverage disputes. In her appellate practice, Sara has numerous published decisions in the Florida and Federal appellate courts in the areas of tort and insurance law. Most notably, Sara served as appellate counsel in a 2015 issue of first impression before the Fourth DCA which ultimately created law in Florida on physical abuse exclusions in homeowners policies; and as amicus counsel in a recent Florida Supreme Court decision finding Lee County’s hospital lien law unconstitutional.

Sara has been named a Florida Super Lawyer Rising Star from 2014 through 2021, was a 2015 recipient of the Daily Business Review’s Rising Star, 40 Under 40 award, and a 2021 recipient of the Broward County Bar Association’s 40 Under 40 award. In 2009, she was elected to the Broward County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section Board of Directors, where she served as President for the 2017-2018 year. She also serves on Judge Bowman’s National Adoption Day committee and sits on the Broward County Bar Association’s Board of Directors.

Sara’s article, Battered Woman’s Syndrome: Setting a Standard in Florida, was published in Nova Law Review’s thirty-first volume. Sara was also a featured contributor in the article File Splitting: Handling Claims When Coverage Is Unclear in Carrier Management’s September 2015 publication.

Sara has been a guest speaker on the Florida Bar’s Practicing with Professionalism panel and is certified by the Florida Department of Financial Services as a continuing education instructor, presenting seminars for the insurance industry in the areas of insurance coverage law and the proper handling of insurance claims.

Sara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Florida where she graduated with honors. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center where she served as the Lead Articles Editor for the Nova Law Review and graduated with honors.

Sara recently married her wonderful husband, Chris, in December 2019 and the two welcomed their first son, Miles, to the world in December 2020. An avid sports fan, Sara is looking forward to introducing Miles to the world of SEC football and teaching him to cheer on her beloved Gators and Washington D.C., hometown teams. Sara and Chris are also “parents” to four rescue pets and the two enjoy theater, traveling, and finding any excuse to host a gathering of friends and family.
